Course Outcome

This course has been designed to deliver the required training for trainee pest technicians to achieve their pest technician license (excl. WA).

In this course students will build knowledge on skills to operate competently and safely as to:

  • Identify urban general pests
  • Assess infestation, cause and severity
  • Develop and communicate management plans
  • Select and maintain equipment and materials
  • Apply treatments using appropriate equipment.


Completing students will be issues a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment. With their certification, students may discuss licensing options with their state licensing authority.

Mode of Assessment

The course units are assessed individually through the online portal, and consist of:

  • Theory: Questions
  • Application: Case Study
  • Practical: Video Assessment
  • Student logbook (PT): 25 pest inspections and treatments (completed under a licensed supervisor)
  • Student logbook (TPM): 10 pest inspections and min 1 treatment (completed under an accredited supervisor)

Course Entry

All students must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number and may be required to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment.

Work Placement

To ensure our students can apply their pest control course training in an industry environment, Rapid Training requires all students to either be employed or have pre-arranged and documented work placement*, under a licenced technician.

*A letter or email, from the licenced/accredited technician must be provided to confirm work placement.

CPPPMT3005 Manage pest without applying pesticides
CPPPMT3006 Manage pests by applying pesticides
CPPPMT3018 Maintain equipment and pesticide storage area in pest management vehicles

All required pest control course materials are contained on our online training portal comprising of interactive and engaging content.


For additional support and reference, it is recommended that students purchase the following textbooks: “Urban Pest Management in Australia”. 


Pest control course students also access monthly webinars hosted by our industry trainers, which cover course topics and allow for Q&A. Students can email trainers anytime for support or direction.
